Graylyn International Conference Center is different from other hotels and conference centers in that a portion of our business success is donated back to Wake Forest University to fund the Graylyn Scholarship, a full scholarship awarded to an incoming student demonstrating strong leadership skills and academic excellence. We would like to introduce to the three current Graylyn Scholars.
Jordan Buzzett, Graylyn Scholar, Class of 2022
Jordan graduated with honors from HB Plant High School in Tampa,Florida. Currently in her sophomore year, she is already just one class and lab away from earning a minor in Chemistry. This work ethic will serve Jordan well as she plans to attend medical school after graduation from Wake Forest.
“What makes Graylyn unique is that when you hold your conference here, or you bring your family to stay here, it’s contributing to my education, and to others like me.”
Lindsey Wilson, Graylyn Scholar, Class of 2021
Lindsey has yet to declare his major, but is considering a degree in psychology. Already, the relationships he has forged among students, faculty, and staff – even the provost – are proving to be invaluable components of his educational experience.
“I definitely would not have been able to come to Wake Forest if it weren’t for the scholarship.”
Jay Sherrill, Graylyn Scholar, Class of 2020
As a first generation college student, Jay has taken advantage of every opportunity the scholarship has provided.Through the included research grant, Jay has traveled to New Zealand conducting political science research, Washington, D.C. interning with a political think tank, and most recently, to England completing a semester abroad at Cambridge University.
“Receiving the Scholarship was a burden off the shoulders of both me and my parents, and also an opportunity we never knew I would get to have.”
Our staff at Graylyn is driven by something larger than a paycheck – we know that each time we book a room or schedule a meeting, we are contributing to the education and future of promising, deserving students.
When you stay, meet, or host an event at Graylyn, you are contributing to the education of Jay, Lindsey, Jordan, and future Graylyn Scholars.
